BINTULU, May 11: A 65-year-old man was killed in an accident that occurred near the driving academy at Jalan Bintulu-Sibu here, after the pickup truck he was driving collided with another vehicle and overturned.
In a report, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the pickup truck driver was pinned inside when the team arrived at the accident scene after receiving a distress call at 8.09am today.
The Bomba team acted to stabilise the vehicle before extricating the trapped victim from the wreckage.
The victim, identified at Hu Seih Hung, was handed over to the paramedics from the Ministry of Health, who subsequently pronounced him dead.
The collision also caused minor injuries to a 30-year-old female driver of a Kenari vehicle.
She received immediate assistance from passersby who transported her to the nearest hospital.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
