659 new Covid-19 cases, with 10,051 active cases

KUCHING, Oct 31: Malaysia recorded a total of 659 new cases of positive Covid-19 throughout the country today.

According to Health director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, from the total number of new cases reported today, 658 cases were local transmission and one was an  import case recorded in Selangor.

“This brings the total cumulative number of cases in the country to 31,548 cases, with 10,051 active cases (31.86 per cent).

“At the same time, zero death involving Covid-19 were reported today, as the total death toll remains at 249 cases (0.79 per cent),” he said during the daily press conference on Covid-19 development in the country today.

Dr Noor Hisham noted the highest number of cases for today were recorded in Sabah with 529 cases, followed by Selangor with 54 cases, Negeri Sembilan (25), Labuan (12), Kuala Lumpur (11), Sarawak (nine), Perak (six), Putrajaya (four), Terengganu (two), Kedah (two), Penang (two) and one each for Kelantan and Pahang.

He also said no new clusters were detected today, and three states namely Johor, Melaka and Perlis, reported zero new cases of Covid-19.

“A total of 1,000 cases of Covid-19 has also recovered and discharged as of today, which brings the total number of recovered and discharged cases involving Covid-19 in the country to 21,248 cases (67.35 per cent).

“Currently, a total of 83 individuals are being treated in the hospitals intensive care unit (ICU), with 19 of them under respiratory assistance,” he added. –DayakDaily.
