SERIAN, Dec 5: A 64-year-old man died when he was thrown out of the pickup he was driving into a drain following an accident at Kilometer 43, Jalan Kuching-Serian, yesterday (Dec 4).
In a statement, Serian district police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said the driver lost control of the vehicle which then skidded off the left side of the road before overturning.
He added that the victim was then thrown out of the vehicle and landed in a nearby drain.
“The victim was confirmed to have passed away at the scene of the accident by paramedics from Serian Hospital,” he said.
Prior to the accident, which was estimated to have happened at 4.43pm, the victim was heading to Serian from Kuching.
The victim’s remains were brought to Serian Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
