631 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak today with 4 deaths

KUCHING, June 10: Four Covid-19 fatalities have been recorded as Sarawak recorded a total of 631 new positive Covid-19 cases today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today disclosed the four fatalities recorded today were reported from Sibu (two), Kanowit (one) and Sri Aman (one), bringing the total number of deaths involving Covid-19 recorded in the state to 334 cases.

In Sibu, the two deaths involved a 67-year old man and a 63-year old woman who tested positive for Covid-19 on June 3, and May 23 respectively.

The man had comorbidities of high-blood pressure, dyslipidemia, stroke and pancreatic benign tumour, while the woman was diagnosed with comorbidities of diabetes, high-blood pressure and dyslipidemia.

In Kapit, one death involved a 70-year old woman, who tested positive for the virus on May 23. The deceased had comorbidities of high-blood pressure, dyslipidemia, asthma and stroke.

In Sri Aman, the death involved a 63-year old woman, who tested positive for Covid-19 on June 7, and had comorbidities of diabetes, dyslipidemia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

On the same note, SDMC said Kuching, Miri, Sri Aman, Sibu and Tatau contributed 61.33 per cent (387 cases) of the total amount of cases.

According to SDMC, out of the total 631 new cases reported, a total of 77 individuals have shown Covid-19 symptoms during the screening test.

A total of 515 cases detected involved individuals who have been given quarantine orders, with 372 of the cases are derived from individuals who has a close contact with positive Covid-19 case (38 symptomatic), and 141 cases from individuals screening test conducted in the existing clusters (asymptomatic),

At the same time, another 78 cases were reported involving other screening tests from health facilities, including 38 cases from individuals screening tests conducted in health facilities, and one case involving individuals returning from other states in Malaysia (Import B).

The districts that recorded new cases as of today are namely Kuching (105), Miri (102), Sri Aman (71), Sibu (55), Tatau (54), Kapit (37), Subis (36), Bintulu (28), Samarahan (24), Telang Usan (23), Serian (22), Song (19), Lubok Antu (10), Dalat (nine), Mukah (nine), Bau (five), Asajaya (five), Sebauh (five), Selangau (three), Tanjung Manis (two), Sarikei (two), Julau (1), Lawas (1), Beluru (1), Simunjan (1) and Meradong (one). ā€” DayakDaily
