61yo woman killed in road accident along Jalan Lundu-Sematan

KUCHING, Oct 9: A 61-year-old woman from Kampung Rukam in Lundu was killed in a road accident along Jalan Lundu-Sematan today.

Lundu District police chief DSP Damataries Lautin said the victim’s husband was also seriously injured in the accident.

“The victim at the time of the incident was riding a motorcycle together with her husband heading from Biawak towards Lundu at around 10.53 am.

“It is believed that their motorcycle exited the Biawak junction and continued to enter the right lane without stopping which resulted in both of them being hit by a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle that was moving straight on the main road.”

He added that the husband suffered injuries on his leg, hand and head, while the victim who was the pillion rider was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics.

The deceased’s body was later transported to the Lundu Hospital mortuary for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
