KUCHING, Oct 9: Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim does not support or recognise any party that intends to establish a new political party, clarifies the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in a statement today.

It stated that it takes seriously the actions of any party who deliberately misuses the name of the Prime Minister for a specific purpose without permission from the PMO.

“Such action is extremely irresponsible and has a negative impact on the credibility of the Prime Minister and the Government administration.

“Therefore, the PMO advises that the people should not be confused by unofficial statements issued by any party,” it said.

Yesterday, news portal MalaysiaKini reported that a business owner and close associate to Anwar, P Thiagarajan, has revealed plans to set up a new political party.

Speaking during a function in Klang on Oct 7, he said a final decision on the matter would only be announced after his meeting with Anwar. — DayakDaily
