6,000 packs of food aid distributed to the needy

KUCHING, Nov 8: The Kuching and Samarahan Division Hawkers and Traders Association has distributed approximately 6,000 packs of food aid to the needy under a charity event called ‘Caring Food Aid 1.0 and 2.0’, in collaboration with 38 Food Street Café, since September.

According to the association’s advisor Dato Sim Kiang Chiok, the association had on Nov 6 distributed 250 food packs with milk powder, diapers, hand sanitisers, face masks, toothpaste and toothbrush to Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah and 120 food packs to Rumah Seri Kenangan at Samarahan.

“Our association was able to assist with our ‘Pack Meal Aid’ programme that started this year from June till August.


“We have given out 300 packs of cooked food everyday under our ‘Caring Food Aid’ programme to those who apply to our association,” he said in a statement.

He added the association extended its appreciation to its main sponsor, 38 Food Street Café for their assistance in making the charity event a success.

He also said the association was privileged to be able to assist members and Kuching residents who faced hardships due to the Covid-19 pandemic. — DayakDaily
