600 school children attend Jalil Ramli football coaching clinic

MIRI, Nov 18: Some 600 primary school students participated in the second phase of Jalil Ramli’s football coaching clinic took place in Niah district on Saturday at SK Kita, Niah.

Former state player Jalil Ramli was personally present to deliver the finer points on various techniques and football drills to participants.


Also present was Sibuti Member of Parliament (MP) Lukanisman Awang Sauni.

The first phase of the programmme was held in SK Selanyau.

The programme’s main objective is to provide primary school students with early exposure to the sport.

“It is part of Sarawak Football Club’s grassroots development initiative,” said a spokesperson, adding that such an event needs to be extended not only to school children but to school teachers and local communities.

The coaching clinic was jointly organised by the Subis district headmaster council and the Miri Division Football Association.

Lukanisman in his brief speech, expressed hope that the programme would be expanded to several locations next year.

“For example, perhaps next year, similar programmes can be held in Lambir constituency,” he suggested.

He expressed his full support for the programme and is looking forward to get the football development programme going for Sibuti division. — DayakDaily
