MIRI, June 6: Miri City Council (MCC) and Dayak Association Miri (DAM) jointly distributed 600 packs of ‘Gawai Kuih’ to shoppers at Emart shopping mall in Tudan this morning.

Mayor Adam Yii, who also gave a helping hand, said the initiative was meant to share and engage with the locals on this festive occasion.

“Besides joining in the Gawai celebration, we (MCC) also wanted to strengthen our relationship with DAM and the local community,” he told reporters covering the event.

The programme started at 10am, and most of the shoppers looked surprised by the freebies. — DayakDaily
