KUCHING, April 2: Some 60 food baskets were delivered by JCI Damai to 42 students at SK St Andrew, Pending and 18 needy families at Kampung Sg Periuk in conjunction with Good Friday today.

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth secretary-general Milton Foo who was invited as the guest-of-honour for the handover ceremony expressed his thanks to JCI Damai and H&L Supermarket, which donated and sponsored the food baskets respectively.

He also urged any member of the public interested to donate items or foods to the needy to contact any youth non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as JCI Damai who will then arrange for delivery to the targeted hands.

This, he added in a statement today, is in fulfilment of Sarawakians’ noble spirit which is taking care of one another regardless of race and religious beliefs.

To comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs), SK St Andrew headmistress Irene Tawan said the school would only distribute the food aid to students when physical classes resume on Tuesday (April 6).

Meanwhile, she said the remaining 18 food baskets for the village folks would be distributed through four representatives of Kampung Sg Periuk as arranged by community leader Norhidayat Abdullah.

Also present at the ceremony were JCI Damai president Mighty Chin, organising chairman Vincent Voon and other JCI Damai Youth members. — DayakDaily
