60 compounds issued for Covid-19 SOP violations, Kuching tops all with 22 violators

KUCHING, June 28: The police has issued a total of 60 compounds across Sarawak with Kuching tops all districts by taking up 22 of them, constituting more than two-thirds of the total compounds.

Kuching was followed by Bintulu and Lawas where 10 compounds were issued respectively in both districts.


Police compounds issued in Sibu, Miri and Padawan districts are on the low side with eight issued in Sibu and three in Miri and Padawan respectively.

There were two police fines dished out in Saratok, while Sarikei and Kota Samarahan both saw only one compound, indicating high SOP compliance.

In terms of nature of penalty, out of the 60 compounds, 45 of them involved individuals hanging out in public places after curfew hours without valid reasons.

Six were penalised for failure to check into a business premises with MySejahtera app while four were caught not wearing face mask in public areas.

Three individuals were taken to task for attempting to cross district without permits while one business person was caught operating without permission.

An individual however, was fined for violating quarantine SOP.

The 60 compounds today have pushed the total fines issued by the police since Mar 18, 2020 to 8,434. — DayakDaily
