KUCHING, April 17: A total of 5,861 compounds for breaching the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been issued since March 18, 2020.
Just today, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said five compounds were issued by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) with three in Miri and two in Kuching.
He also noted that the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has issued one compound today under the Bau District Council.
With that, Uggah said SDMC and the authorities would not condone any acts of negligence for their detrimental effects, especially the recent upsurge of Covid-19 cases in Borneo Height’s police training centre that sparked 295 cases.
“The number of cases at the police training centre is very high, so we must pass the message to the rest of the organisations that they must be responsible to make sure that proper SOPs are being obeyed.
“And that all precautions are taken to ensure all those staying within their facilities are not infected with the virus, because it can be done and there’s no reason why it can’t be done,” he said during a press conference on Covid-19 update today.
Emphasising that strict legal actions would be taken against whoever are found not observing SOPs without hesitation, he urged members of the public and those in management of similar facilities as the police training centre to be vigilant to keep everyone safe. — DayakDaily
