SERIAN, Dec 20: A 57-year-old man, who was feared missing in Kampung Rayang, Mile 36 here four days ago, was found safe today.
According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the man who has a hearing disability was first reported missing on Tuesday (Dec 17), at approximately 2.30pm, after failing to return home from his farm.
Initial search efforts by villagers in the surrounding area proved unsuccessful, prompting the activation of a search and rescue (SAR) operation yesterday (Dec 19).
Bomba operations commander Christopher Adrian Winces said the second day of the SAR operation today continued with search efforts concentrated within a 2-kilometre radius from where the victim was reported to have gone missing.
The search team was divided into three groups, assisted by the K9 unit.
“In the afternoon, the missing individual was located approximately 2km from the control post.
“The victim was later transported to Serian Hospital using a Fire and Rescue EMRS vehicle,” he said.
The operation concluded at 4.10pm. — DayakDaily
