KUCHING, May 24: About 56 students in SK Siang-Siang in Lawas were trapped in their dormitories following a flash flood.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, Bomba Lawas was informed of the incident at 7.45am today and deployed their personnel to the location.

Upon their arrival, the operations commander reported that the water level was four feet deep, causing the students to be trapped in their dormitories.

All of the students were safely evacuated using inflatable boats and were later handed over to their parents. — DayakDaily
