56 arrested for violating MCO

KUCHING, Apr 28: A total of 56 people in Sarawak have been arrested for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) in just 24 hours.

According to the statistic which was recorded by the police, Kuching had the most arrests with 27 people, followed by Miri (9), and Padawan (8).


Other arrests included Betong (4), Sarikei (3), two each from Sri Aman and Belaga and one from Bintulu.

Meanwhile, 98 people have been charged in court for violating the MCO. A total of 30 charged were from Kuching, 15 from Saratok, 12 from Betong, 10 from Sarikei, eight each from Miri and Kota Samarahan, seven from Sibu, five from Padawan, two from Matu Daro and one from Kanowit.

People who had violated the MCO will be investigated and charged under the Prevent And Control of Infectious Diseases Act 2020. —DayakDaily
