KUCHING, May 22: A total of 557 asnaf in Asajaya received contributions in conjunction with the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the Gawai Dayak celebrations.
According to Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is Asajaya state assemblyman, the charitable programme is an annual event in aid of the less fortunate members of the community in Asajaya aimed at lessening their burden during the festive season.
He also reminded the communities in Asajaya to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set to curb the spread of Covid-19 by not visiting family members and friends during the coming Hari Raya and Gawai celebrations.
“The government has decided that there will be no visiting activity during this year’s Hari Raya and Gawai celebrations, but limited only to immediate family members,” he said during the handing over ceremony that was held at Asajaya District Office, yesterday.
He added that the contribution was courtesy of Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang.
Meanwhile, Abdul Karim, who is also the Minister of Youth and Sports Sarawak, urged the local communities to continue practicing social distancing and undertake healthy measures such as using hand sanitizer, washing hands and facial masks.
He said that it was necessary to continue adhering to the strict SOP in compliance with the government’s Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).—DayakDaily
