KOTA SAMARAHAN, April 12: Fifty-five auxiliary police personnel, nine of them women, from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and Ibraco have successfully completed the 3/2019 Series in Advanced T-Baton Operation Course at Dewan Kampus Timur from April 9-10.

The closing event was officiated at by Unimas Registrar Henry Tening. Present were Ibraco security manager Lipi Awan, Unimas security officer DSP Rajan Thangaveloo, ASP Idzhar Shaffarrul Haslidan and Unimas auxiliary officer ASP Ritchie Jarit.

Unimas, in a statement, said the objective of the course was to enhance the knowledge and skills of auxiliary police personnel in the used of T-baton. It was also to improve their physique in order to face any challenges in the course of duty.

In addition, it was also to inculcate esprit de corp, positive behaviour and to exercise high discipline in their work.

Unimas also said the training was important as security could not be compromised in any organisation, what with the increase in the number of student population, motor vehicle and complex threats.

Such training not only allows the auxiliary police to be the eyes and ears of the enforcement authority but serve as effective assistants in crime prevention and to decrease criminal elements in the campus. — DayakDaily
