SIBU, Feb 12: A 54-year-old teacher was killed last night (Feb 11) after being struck by a pickup truck on Jalan Deshon.
In a TVS news, Sibu District Police chief Zulkipli Suhaili said the incident was reported at around 8pm.
The victim, Rozita Saibi, was a teacher at SMK Kampung Nangka.
“Upon arrival, police found the victim with severe injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Sibu Hospital,” he said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was crossing the road to reach her husband’s vehicle on the opposite side when she was hit by the pickup, which was travelling from Jalan Ling Khai Cheng towards Sibu Jaya.
Sources said she had just delivered gastric medicine to her child at Sibu Vocational College prior to the accident.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
