MIRI, Feb 25: A 54-year-old man sustained burns to his arm while attempting to extinguish a fire at his house in Kampung Melayu, Beluru, Bakong, last night (Feb 24).
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Lopeng responded to the emergency at 9.20pm and a team of firefighters was swiftly dispatched to the scene.

By the time firefighters arrived, villagers had already managed to put out the blaze, but the one-storey semi-permanent house was completely destroyed.
The homeowner was transported by villagers to the nearest clinic for treatment.
Firefighters then conducted dousing and overhaul operations to eliminate any remaining ignition sources and ensure the area’s safety.
