52 healthcare workers, residents in Sentosa Hospital test positive for Covid-19

KUCHING, July 14: Fifty-two healthcare workers and residents of Sentosa Hospital have tested positive for Covid-19, giving rise to a new cluster dubbed the Sentosa 2 Cluster.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily Covid-19 update, a total of 181 people linked to the cluster have been swabbed so far.

Out of that number, 52 of them tested positive while the balance of 129 individuals are awaiting swab test results.

SDMC said the Covid-19 patients have been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the Covid-19 Low Risk and Quarantine Centre (PKRC) in Kuching for isolation and treatment.

The Sentosa 2 Cluster is one of three new clusters of Covid-19 identified in Sarawak today.

The other two new clusters are the Jalan Teo Kui Ngo Cluster in Meradong and Duyoh Cluster in Bau.

The Duyoh Cluster involves 22 villagers who tested positive for Covid-19 from two families at Kampung Duyoh located at Jalan Jagoi-Serikin in Bau.

At present, 82 villagers of Kampung Duyoh have been swabbed with 22 tested positive, 53 tested negative and the balance of seven villagers waiting for the results of their swab test.

The Covid-19 patients of Duyoh Cluster have also been admitted to SGH and Covid-19 PKRC in Kuching for isolation and treatment.

Likewise, four clusters namely the Emperan Cluster in Selangau, Jalan Jambusan-Sunchar Cluster in Bau, Jalan Daya Cluster in Kuching and Jalan Keruing Cluster in Kuching ended.

With three new clusters emerged and four clusters ended, there is a total of 98 active clusters of Covid-19 in Sarawak out of which 10 active clusters reported 38 new cases. — DayakDaily
