KUCHING, March 25: A 50-year-old man suffers burn injuries during an early morning fire in Lubok Antu today.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak operation center in a statement today said they received the emergency call regarding the incident at 2.50am today and deployed firefighters from Bomba Betong to the location.

“After arriving at the location, the operations commander reported the fire had destroyed 90 per cent of the non-permanent two-storey house in Rumah Lintong, Nanga Kesit.


“There were two victims, one adult woman and one adult man, as the latter suffered burn injuries on his face and hands and was sent to the nearby clinic by the villagers,” it said.

Bomba are still in the midst of investigating the cause of the fire.

According to the report, firefighters took a while to reach the location because the house is located 400 meters from the main road and was only accessible via a suspension bridge.

It added the fire was successfully extinguished and the operation ended at 6.30am. — DayakDaily
