KUCHING, Sep 14: A 50-metre tall vessel with no cargo was destroyed in a fire at Pulau Selalo Peradong, Sibu this morning.
According to a Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) report, firefighters from Sibu were despatched to the scene after receiving a call of distress from members of the public.
“The firefighters put out the fire using a 200-foot 2-nozzle delivery hose and transport pumps as well as water sources from the river.
“The operations commander reported that the fire was fully controlled at 9.20am,” the report elaborated.
The operation was carried out on another boat as the vessel on fire was 200 metres from the river bank.
The fire was completely extinguished at 9.55am and no victims were involved. The case was later handed over to river security. — DayakDaily
