SIBU, Aug 28: Five persons including the operator of a coffeeshop at Jalan Morshidi Sidek have been issued compounds totalling RM16,000 for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) today.
The operator of the cafe received a heavier compound of RM10,000 while four of his customers were compounded RM1,500 each.
Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said at about 12.15pm, an integrated SOP monitoring team led by ASP Kushairy Bujang spotted four customers sitting at a table meant for two persons only.
“Their action had gone against the SOPs for not observing physical distancing, while action was also taken against the cafe operator for allowing the four to sit together,” he said.
He added that before the compounds were issued, the team had explained their offence to them.
The compounds were issued under Regulation 17 (2) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.
“I want to remind operators of cafes and the public not to be too excited that dine-in is now allowed. Everybody must adhere to the SOP which includes practicing physical distancing while dining-in,” he advised. — DayakDaily
