KUCHING, Dec 15: A five-hour hike to the peak of Bukit Mabong will be included in the Bukit Mabong tourism calendar for 2023, says Bukit Mabong district officer Robert Liman Deli.
Last Tuesday (Dec 13), 30 participants went on the Bukit Mabong Recce Expedition to conquer Bukit Mabong while carrying each a rucksack weighing 3kg.
The participants even ventured through the ‘cruel trail’, which is as steep as ‘Tangga Bunyau’, with the help of ropes.
The expedition was organised for the first time by the Bukit Mabong District Office in collaboration with Kapit Resident Office, Sarawak Forestry Corporation, Land and Survey Department, Sarawak Forest Department, Royal Malaysian Police and the Kapit Information Department.
According to a statement by the Kapit Information Department today, Baleh assemblyman Nicholas Kudi hoped that this expedition could generate eco-tourism opportunities to help increase the source of income of local populations. — DayakDaily
