4WD catches fire at Kuching International Airport

KUCHING, Sept 5: A four-wheel-drive caught fire outside the Kuching International Airport (KIA) departure hall today.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operations Centre (PGO), they received the emergency call at 4.10pm.

It was reported that the Airport Fire and Rescue team which arrived earlier, managed to control the fire which started from the engine.


Eight firefighters from Batu Lintang station arrived at the location soon after.

They continued the task by removing the terminal on the battery to stop any flow of electricity and ensuring that the fire was fully doused.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No one was harmed in the incident and the operation ended at 4.30pm. — DayakDaily
