KUCHING, March 1: Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) has shortlisted 49 entries for the 60th Anniversary of Sarawak Independence logo design competition today.
Sarawak deputy secretary (operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee, who is leading the judging panel for the logo design competition, said it received 365 entries in total from 295 participants.
“The winning logo will be used as the official logo for the 60th Anniversary of Sarawak Independence which will be launched on March 21.
“The (number of submissions) demonstrated strong competition even though it was only opened two weeks ago,” he said in a news report by Ukas today.
The logo design competition, which opened for submissions from Feb 2 to 19, aims to showcase the creativity and talents of Sarawakians.
The winner of the competition will walk away with RM5,000 in cash, while the second place winner will receive RM4,000 and the third place winner will take home RM3,000.
Five consolation prize winners will receive RM1,000 in cash.
All participants who join the competition will also receive a certificate of participation each.
Also present for the judging session include Ukas director Samuel Simon, Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonies and Event Management Unit deputy director Hamdan Sharbini, a representative from Malaysia Information Department (Penerangan) Sarawak, Syazwan Abd Rahman, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Art and Design Technology lecturer Natasha Rusdy Wong and UiTM’s head of School of Painting, Design, Architecture, Planning and Surveying Asmah Alia. — DayakDaily
