KUCHING, April 28: A total of 48 per cent of the 416 new cases or approximately 200 cases were reported in Kapit, Sibu, Bintulu, Meradong and Miri districts.
According to reports from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), almost half of the Covid-19 cases were concentrated in the central and northern part of the state.
The committee disclosed that Kapit registered 53 cases, the district with the highest number of coronavirus cases today.
The second highest was Sibu with 46 followed by Bintulu (38), Meradong (33), Miri (30), Kuching (29), Serian (24), Saratok (21), Beluru (18), Kanowit (15), Samarahan (12), Mukah (12), Selangau (10), Sarikei (10), Song (9), Bau (9), Belaga (8), Julau (5), Tanjung Manis (5), Pakan (5), Lundu (5), Bukit Mabong (4), Sri Aman (3), Limbang (3), Tebedu (3), Matu (2), Kabong (1), Tatau (1), Dalat (1) and Sebauh (1).
With the extra 416 Covid-19 cases reported, the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has increased to 29,377.
In the meantime, there was also one case which involved an individual who returned from India and nine domestic imported cases from other states in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, there were six fatalities reported bringing the death toll due to Covid-19 in Sarawak to 171.
On another note, there were 449 Covid-19 patients who recovered and were discharged from health facilities in Sarawak.
Nonetheless, a total of 5,646 Covid-19 patients are still being treated at various hospitals and low risk quarantine and treatment centres throughout the state.
There were 416 new cases of Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) and none were awaiting the results of the Covid-19 swab test. — DayakDaily
