SERIAN, Oct 29: A school management assistant was fined RM9,000 or 24 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today after pleading guilty to possessing nearly 100 pornographic materials believed to involve minors, while awaiting trial for a separate alleged sexual assault on a student with learning disabilities.
The 47-year-old man admitted to two charges under Section 292 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Razali.
According to the charge sheet, he was found with 49 pornographic videos and 49 obscene images stored on two smartphones upon his arrest at the Serian District Police Headquarters around 10am on April 8.
Simultaneously, the accused is facing a separate trial for the alleged molestation of an 18-year-old male student with learning disabilities.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charge framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
The alleged offence occurred around 5.20pm on Feb 20, 2025 in a special education classroom at a secondary school in Serian.
The victim had met the accused to ask for cigarettes when the man reportedly forced him to watch pornography, groped and kissed him, and attempted to sodomise him. The victim managed to resist the attempt, after which the accused offered him three cigarettes as “reward”.
Investigations revealed that the case came to light after the victim confided in friends and his father, who subsequently filed a police report.
The court has set Nov 20 for the case management of the molestation charge. — DayakDaily
