KUCHING, April 20: A 46-year-old man has been arrested in Bintulu for allegedly making defamatory remarks against Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata confirmed that seven police reports had been lodged regarding a post shared on social media containing threats and insults directed at the Premier and Works Minister.
“The case is under investigation under Section 507 of the Penal Code, which pertains to criminal intimidation by concealment,” he stated in a press release yesterday.
Mancha added that the case would be referred to the department of the Attorney General of Malaysia for further legal action.
Additionally, Mancha advised the public against engaging in speculation or sharing unverified information that could cause public distress. — DayakDaily
