46yo arrested for burglary in Tabuan Jaya

KUCHING, Nov 25: A 46-year-old man was arrested for his alleged involvement in a burglary case in Tabuan Jaya with losses amounting to RM14,000 yesterday (Nov 24).

Acting Kuching District Police Chief Supt Merbin Lisa said the suspect was caught in Taman BDC, Jalan Stampin, on the same day of the crime.

During the arrest, police seized various items believed to be connected to the crime.

These included a sling bag, a screwdriver, a black Huawei mobile phone, an Allen key, pliers, a modified T-shaped metal tool, a key with a remote, a pair of black Coneli shorts, a Perodua car key with a remote, two ASUS laptops with chargers, three CCTV units (Tapo Crystal Clear 2K QHD), a Gigabyte graphics card, a Green Light Laser toolbox set, a folding ladder, a grey Huawei backpack, a toolbox containing multiple tools, two roller shutter keys, and a Perodua Myvi car used during the crime.

Further checks revealed that the car had been reported stolen in Taman Satria, Kuching, on Nov 9.

“A urine test confirmed the suspect was positive for AMP/METH-type drugs.

“Investigations also revealed the suspect had six prior criminal records involving drugs and property crimes and was linked to three burglary cases.

“He is now under a seven-day remand for further investigation into other burglary cases in Kuching,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment and a fine or whipping upon conviction.
