SIBU, Jan 9: A 45-year-old man accused of sexual offences against his daughter has been released on bail of RM3,000 in one surety by the Sessions Court today.
The accused pleaded not guilty before Judge Marutin Pagan. The case has been fixed for February 6 for case management.
According to the brief fact of the case, in the first charge, the accused, on January 1 this year, committed incest on his 16-year-old daughter in a rented house at Jalan St Francis Xavier Mission in Kanowit.
He was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for the offence.
The section provides for imprisonment of not less than eight years and not more than 30 years and liable to whipping not less than ten times.
In the second charge under Section 14(A) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, the accused had, on December 24 last year, molested the victim.
If convicted, he faces a jail sentence of not exceeding 20 years plus whipping. — DayakDaily
