KUCHING, Apr 25: A total of 45 individuals were arrested for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) as of 8 am today, while 57 others were charged in court.
Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar in a statement disclosed that the highest number of individuals arrested was recorded in Miri with 15 individuals, follow by Padawan (9) and Betong (5).
“Other districts also recorded an arrest but in lesser numbers such as in Kuching and Serian, where only 3 individuals was arrested in both districts.
“Apart from that, for Sibu, Sarikei and Lawas, two arrests were made in each district, while Bintulu, Kota Samarahan, Kapit and Dalat only recorded one arrest each,” he said.
At the same time, Dev Kumar also said that three districtsin Sarawak recorded a double-figure for the number of individuals brought to court for not complying with the MCO.
According to him, Padawan recorded the highest number of individuals charged in court with 13 individuals, followed by Kuching (11) and Saratok (10), including other districts namely in Miri (9), Belaga (6), Sibu (4), Limbang (2) and Sri Aman (1) and Lubok Antu (1).
“The latest statistics bring the total number of arrests since Mar 13, 2020 to 1,611 individuals, and the total individuals charged in court to 1,059,” he added.—DayakDaily
