KUCHING, Nov 22: The Sarawak and Federal governments have allocated funds for the building of 40 telecommunication towers in Baleh constituency.
In answering a question raised by Baleh assemblyman Nicholas Kurdi Jantai (GPS-PRS) during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today, Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang said the towers will be fully operational in stages until the fourth quarter of 2024, on the condition that there are no land issues.
On the issue of land acquisition for the construction of telecommunication towers, Liwan said it will be processed in accordance to the procedures stipulated by the Sarawak Land Code.
“If the land involved with the telecommunication project site is subject to Native Customary Right (NCR) claim, the land compensation rate will be based on the market value assessed by the Land and Survey Department,” said Liwan. — DayakDaily
