KUCHING, April 23: A total of 11 compounds have been issued by the police while four arrests were made at a karaoke lounge in Kuching recently.
Of the 11 compounds, six were issued in Kuching, three in Sarikei and two in Padawan district for violating Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures (SOPs).
This brings the total number of compounds issued since March 18, 2021 to 5,969.
Meanwhile, a recent inspection at a karaoke lounge in Kuching resulted in police arresting four individuals including one Indonesian man and three women.
During the inspection, six locals were also compounded for violating SOPs during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period in Kuching.
On April 22, the police had said that it will intensify daily monitoring and inspection of entertainment outlets, eateries or food courts and crowded public places in and around Kuching to ensure compliance to the CMCO SOPs.
Acting Kuching District Police Chief Supt Merbin Lisa warned that the police will take stern action and no longer compromise with business operators and individuals who disobey or violate the SOPs, especially under the Kuching Police Headquarters jurisdiction.
He stressed that these measures needed to be taken to curb the spread of Covid-19 as cases continue to surge. — DayakDaily
