SIBU, Sept 21: Four men have been arrested after they were found in possession of illegal diesel worth a total of RM1.1 million, with authorities also seizing their vessel yesterday.
The suspects, aged 26 to 44, include a local man and three foreign nationals.
Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said today that the arrest and seizures were made at 12.45pm by Regional 5 marine police during OP Taring Pensura.
According to him, a team of officers and members of PPMW5 inspected the vessel involved which was moored at Sungai Batang Rajang here.
“The result of the inspection found that the vessel was carrying 40,000 litres of diesel worth RM160,000 without a valid permit and license from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
Zulkipli also said that the three foreign men involved consisted of Indonesian and Myanmar citizens who had valid documents or passports.
“The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 and the arrest and seizure have been handed over to the Sibu Division KPDN for further action,” he added. — DayakDaily
