KUCHING, Sept 27: Four family members perished in an early dawn fire on Sunday after their house located at Kampung Melayu Dit, Betong was razed to the ground in the incident.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) was contacted at 2.37 am and a team was dispatched to the scene.
According to a statement from the State Bomba Operation Centre, the house which was operating as a grocery shop was burned 100 per cent during the fire.
Based on initial investigation, four family members died in the fire. Two women, aged 60 and 23, are among the fire victims identified while two others are children, aged 10 and 6.
Bomba members later put out all the fire and retrieved the burned bodies from the house.
The bodies of the four fire victims were handed over to the police for further investigation and Bomba ended their operation at 5.50 am. -DayakDaily
