39th National Chinese Cultural Festival to be held from June 22 to Sept 15 at S’wak Cultural Village

KUCHING, May 10: The Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations is set to host the 39th National Chinese Cultural Festival from June 22 to September 15 at the Sarawak Cultural Village.

In a statement today, Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations president Dato Richard Wee led a delegation from the association for a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts of Sarawak Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah to discuss matters related to the event.


Abdul Karim, who gave his full support of the event, was also invited to be a guest of honour for one of the events.

The associations and their affiliated members throughout the State will conduct a series of activities, including a torch relay, cultural performances, food street, and art competitions.

The torch relay is expected to arrive in Kuching on Sept 13 and will be concluded with a grand cultural performance at the Kuching Waterfront on the evening of Sept 15 with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the guest of honour together with Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Through the event, the organiser hopes to further promote the traditional Chinese culture among various ethnic groups in Sarawak to build a harmonious and prosperous community. — DayakDaily
