KUCHING, March 4: A 38-year-old businessman has been remanded for another seven days to assist in investigations into the murder of a 22-year-old man at a gated apartment complex on Jalan Sungai Tapang last year.
Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali granted the remand extension under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code following a request from the police.
The suspect, represented by lawyer Roger Chin, was arrested on Feb 24 and initially remanded for seven days.
With the first remand period expiring today, he was brought before the Magistrate’s Court, where an additional seven-day remand was approved until March 11.
Previously, authorities detained eight men aged 22 to 48 in connection with the case. Some were later released and are now witnesses, while others were freed on bond.
