38yo BID from Bintulu one of 2 new Covid-19 deaths reported as Sarawak logs 47 new cases

KUCHING, Dec 13: A 38-year-old man from Bintulu who was brought-in-dead (BID) and did not have any comorbidities was among two new Covid-19 deaths reported in Sarawak today.

According to a Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) report, the patient succumbed to Covid-19 on Dec 8.

SDMC said the second Covid-19 fatality involved a 60-year-old man who had hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia.

The patient, also a BID and from Bintulu was certified to have passed away due to Covid-19 on Dec 7.

With this, the death toll due to Covid-19 in Sarawak has risen to 1,612.

Meanwhile, Sarawak reported 47 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the State to 251,743.

SDMC said just one out of 47 cases was critical (Category 3, 4 and 5) while the balance of 46 cases were distributed across Categories 1 and 2.

Breaking it down, there were no patients in Category 5 and 4 (intubated and on breathing support respectively) while there was one patient in Category 3 (with pneumonia).

There were 24 Covid-19 patients in Category 2 (mild symptoms) and 22 asymptomatic Covid-19 patients in Category 1.

Only nine out of 40 districts across the State reported new cases.

Kuching has the most number of new cases at 16, followed by Lawas with nine cases, Miri with seven cases, Limbang (6), Sibu (5), Bintulu (1), Sarikei (1), Betong (1), and Lubok Antu (1).

Districts which recorded zero new Covid-19 cases were Sri Aman, Tebedu, Serian, Samarahan, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Beluru, Julau, Kapit, Pakan, Mukah, Dalat, Lundu, Daro, Marudi, Bau, Subis, Kanowit, Pusa, Asajaya, Meradong, Sebauh, Selangau, Kabong, Simunjan, Tanjung Manis, Matu, Belaga, Telang Usan, Saratok and Song. — DayakDaily
