KUCHING, May 30: A 37-year-old foreign woman was arrested and 2.44 kilogrammes of substances suspected to be the drug methamphetamine were seized after a police raid at a budget hotel along Jalan Rock on May 29.
Kuching District deputy police chief SUPT Merbin Lisa disclosed that the seized drugs are estimated to be worth RM78,016.
“A police team from the Sarawak Police Narcotic Crime Investigation Department raided the premises at about 3pm, resulting in the arrest of one foreign woman along with the drugs,” he said in a statement today.
The suspect also tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, and ketamine.
She is set to be remanded for seven days, starting from May 31 until June 6, to facilitate in the investigation and to ascertain the source of the drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, which carries death penalty or life imprisonment.
Merbin urged the public to report any information on drug misuse activities to the authorities. — DayakDaily
