377 honoured at Sarawak Energy Loyalty Service Awards 2018

KUCHING, Nov 5: Sarawak Energy honoured recently a total of 377 long-serving employees, including five who had been with the company for 40 years.

Its Sarawak Energy Loyalty Service Awards 2018 took place in Sibu, Miri and with the finale here.

Celebrating the ruby service anniversary of 40 years were Ang Choo Siew, Lee Haw Soon and Muhammad Zakaria from Kuching, Salleh Ali from Sarikei and Sia Yiik Nan from Bintulu.


The other recipients were for reaching the milestones of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years in service.

Altogether, the recipients represented almost 9,000 years of service in the state-owned energy development company and power utility that emphasises talent management excellence.

“The figure also indicated that Sarawak Energy is a preferred place of work,” said Sarawak Energy in a press statement yesterday.

Presenting the awards to 249 long-serving employees here on Thursday was Sarawak Energy Group chief executive officer Datu Sharbini Suhaili, who told those present that the corporation had almost 5,000 staff serving 650,000 customers and almost 3 million people from across Sarawak.

“We have evolved into the company of today from almost a century ago due to our people, our greatest strength,” he said.

Sharbini thanking the recipients for their loyal service to the corporation.

He called on the award recipients to share their knowledge and skills with the new and younger employees “as we work towards benchmarking ourselves against the best in class operators”.

Sharbini also acknowledged the 83 retirees and their spouses, who were also in attendance that night.

Also present were Sarawak Energy senior management team, including group chief operating officer Lu Yew Hung; chief executive officer for its retail and distribution arm, Sesco, Lau Kim Swee; and chief executive officer for its generation arm, SEB Power, James Ung. — DayakDaily
