36 Covid-19 cases in two weeks pushes Lundu into orange zone status

KUCHING, April 25: Lundu joined other districts categorised as Covid-19 orange zones today with a total of 36 infection cases recorded in the past fortnight.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today, with Lundu joining the ranks, the total number of districts with orange zone status stands at eight.

“Lawas district also changed to yellow zone status from green status after reporting one new infection today, bringing the total number of districts with yellow zone status to 11 districts,” it said.


SDMC noted Julau and Matu districts improved to orange zone status after both districts only recorded a total of 29 and 34 cases of infection respectively in the past 14 days, leaving only 19 districts with red zone status.

“Sebauh district’s status also saw an improvement by returning to yellow zone from orange zone, with only 20 infections reported in previous two weeks,” the committee added.

As of today, the 19 districts categorised as Covid-19 red zones are Song, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Belaga, Kanowit, Selangau, Saratok, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Beluru, Samarahan, Serian, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu.

The eight districts with orange zone status are Lundu, Matu, Julau, Betong, Kabong, Sri Aman, Pakan and Marudi. Lawas, Sebauh, Asajaya, Pusa, Bau, Dalat, Daro, Lubok Antu, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu and Limbang are categorised as yellow zones.

Telang Usan and Simunjan are the only two districts categorised as Covid-19 green zones. — DayakDaily
