SERIAN, Aug 17: A 35-year-old man was arrested after he was suspected of committing incest against his 14-year-old biological daughter at a house in Kampung Krusen Mawang.
According to Serian district police chief Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian, police received a report from the victim at about 5.06am on Sunday (Aug 16).
Following the report, the police arrested the suspect, who is the victim’s biological father, to assist in the investigation.
He said an application for remand against the suspect will be made today to facilitate further investigations.
“Police take all forms of sexual crimes and exploitation against children seriously and advise the public not to disseminate any information, photographs or the victim’s identity that could lead to the victim being identified.
“This is important to protect the victim’s privacy, safety and well-being,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest. — DayakDaily
