KUCHING, July 8: A total of 35 athletes and coaches from Sibu received their first Covid-10 vaccine dose as part of preparations for the 2022 Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Johor.

According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapa’ee said all of the athletes and their coaches will be heading to Sukma 2022.

“All of them are currently training by themselves at home, and that is why the vaccination is important in order to enable them to train back together again at the training centre, in the coming few weeks, after the Movement Control Order (MCO) implementation is eased,” he said when visiting the Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV) at Sibu Indoor Stadium yesterday

He added, some of the athletes from Sibu received their vaccinations earlier.

Sarawak Sports Corporation central zone officer-in-charge Mikar Changgan, said the vaccination programme for the athletes is a continuation of the first vaccination programme held in Kuching on June 28.

“Those athletes who received their vaccination during the programme were the ones selected to join the Sarawak Sukma squad,” he said. — DayakDaily
