34 nabbed in drug raids in Subis

MIRI, July 6: Thirty-four people, including two woman and an Indonesian man, were arrested in drug busts in Subis district that started yesterday afternoon.

It is alleged that the Indonesian man is a drug pusher.


According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) teams swept five places in Subis in the operation that started at 2pm yesterday and ended at 3am today.

The areas are Kampung Madinah (Niah), Simpang Ngu (Niah), an oil palm plantation in Bekenu, Kampung Beraya and Kampung Kejapil.

“The suspects are aged between 21 and 52. They are currently being detained for questioning,” he said when contacted today.

Lim revealed that at least 10 of the suspects were repeat offenders in drug-related offences. During the raids, police seized methamphetamine weighing 9.57g and with a street valued of RM 1,900.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1), Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
