BINTULU, Feb 26: A 31-year-old man was killed in a road accident after the van he was driving crashed into a tree along the highway near Columbia Asia Hospital this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) responded to the emergency at 10.25am and immediately dispatched a team from the Bintulu Station to the scene.
Upon arrival at 10.39am, the operations commander, PBK I Mazlan Tanim, reported that the incident involved a self-accident in which the van had veered off the road and collided with a tree at the roadside.
The victim, an adult male driver, was found trapped in the driver’s seat. Firefighters carried out extrication works using special rescue equipment to free him from the wreckage.
The victim was successfully removed from the vehicle but was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
His body was later handed over to the police for further investigation. — DayakDaily
