3,170 Covid-19 cases recorded nationwide with 12 fatalities

A total of 3,170 new positive Covid-19 cases were recorded throughout the country today, with 12 death cases

KUCHING, Jan 21: A total of 3,170 new positive Covid-19 cases were recorded throughout the country today, with 12 death cases reported.

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH) director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today, from the total number of new cases reported today, eight of the cases are imported involving seven Malaysian and one foreigner, while the rest are local transmission.

“This brings the total cumulative number of positive Covid-19 cases recorded in the country to 172,549 cases, with 41,755 active cases,” he said.


Dr. Noor Hisham noted Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest number of new cases with a total of 576 cases, followed by Selangor with 545 cases, and Johor with 423 cases.

He said the rest of the new cases today are recorded in Sabah (401), Perak (254), Pulau Pinang (171), Kedah (156), Kelantan (135), Sarawak (132), Melaka (106), Negeri Sembilan (102), Terengganu (57), Pahang (48), Putrajaya (33), Labuan (32), and Perlis (eight).

On the same note, Dr. Noor Hisham disclosed a total of 2,490 cases of positive Covid-19 has recovered and discharged from the hospital, bringing the total cumulative of recovered and discharged positive Covid-19 cases in the country to 130,152 (75. 4 per cent).

“However, a total of 12 death cases were also recorded today involving Malaysian, namely in Johor (four), Selangor (three), Sabah (two), and one each respectively in Negeri Sembilan, Sarawak and Perak,” he added. – DayakDaily.
