316 residents of Kampung Sileng Dayak swabbed after 2 Covid-19 cases reported

LUNDU, April 24: A total of 316 residents of Kampung Sileng Dayak here, which is currently under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), have been swabbed for Covid-19.

According to a report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), the active case detection (ACD) operation was conducted yesterday (April 23) to trace any new positive cases in the village after two cases were confirmed there.

Lundu District Officer Gustian Durani was present to ensure the ACD operation was carried out smoothly and in a controlled manner.

Meanwhile, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) had two days ago announced that Kampung Sileng Dayak and Kampung Rayang in Serian would be placed under EMCO for two weeks from yesterday until May 5.

Residents are not allowed to leave their homes except for emergencies which require permission from the police.

Residents are also not allowed to visit their farms, plantations or paddy fields throughout the EMCO period.

Police and other enforcement authorities including the Armed Forces, Civil Defence Force and People’s Voluntary Corps (Rela) have been stationed to enforce strict movement control in the area.

All routes leading to the EMCO area have been closed and no visitors from outside are allowed.

Even officers stationed there are also not allowed to leave unless they have permission from the police and Ministry of Health (MoH).

All houses of worship, schools, economic activities as well as social and recreational activities are not permitted throughout the EMCO period. — DayakDaily
