31 sworn in as Gedong District Council members for 2025-2028 term

KUCHING, May 16: A total of 31 individuals have been sworn in as members of the Gedong District Council for the new term spanning from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2028.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, the appointees comprised existing council members who have been reappointed, reflecting continued confidence in their credibility and performance in carrying out their responsibilities in the previous term.

The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also Gedong assemblyman, at a local hotel here today.

The event commenced with the oath-taking by the Gedong District Council chairman Tamida Da’adi, followed by deputy chairman Japar Mustapha, and then the remaining 29 council members.

Also held during the ceremony was the anti-corruption pledge, taken by all council members as a demonstration of their commitment to integrity and transparent governance in fulfilling their duties for the benefit of the people and the development of the district.

Among those present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister for Public Health and Housing Datuk Michael Tiang, Deputy Minister for Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee, Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris, and Samarahan Division Resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang. — DayakDaily
