31 mission schools in Kuching, Serian receive grant totalling RM4.1 mil

KUCHING, Dec 20: A total of 31 missionary schools in Kuching and Serian have been awarded financial grant totaling RM4.1 million.

Out of these, 13 schools are located in Kuching, while the remaining 18 consist of primary schools in Serian.

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Monday (Dec 18), Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, who is also advisor to the Mission Authority Roman Catholic, Archdiocese of Kuching, presented the cheques during a ceremony held at Bangunan Baitul Makmur I.

Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) director Datuk Jack Aman Luat highlighted that this marked the third consecutive year that the Sarawak government has provided financial assistance to mission schools in the State.

He emphasised that the primary purpose of the grant is to aid schools in managing, improving and upgrading their infrastructure needs.

His text speech was read by his representative Low Suk Fong at the event.

Also present were Batu Kitang State assemblyman Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang, Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kuching Archdiocese Simon Poh. — DayakDaily
